A Proven Leader
Kimberly led the FEA proudly from 2013-2016. Our association's Constitution and Bylaws require that Presidential terms may not be served consecutively. Kimberly followed the rules and returned to the library classroom before seeking her second term as President. She is once again serving as the full-time release president of one of the largest locals in Virginia and the nation.
Today, Kimberly is seeking the opportunity to continue her leadership by becoming Vice President of the VEA.
During her FEA presidencies, Kimberly led the way forward on a multitude of issues:
fighting for Safe schools during the pandemic
ensuring a virtual education until virus spread was under control
participating in the Superintendent's Return to Schools Task Force
ensuring vaccinations were available to every school employee before returning to work in-person
representing members in meetings with FCPS administration
engaging with HR to institute the Silent Witness in all worksites
improving working conditions for all employees by using data from the Working Conditions Survey and now the Employee Engagement Survey
improving or removing failing school leadership through Region level meetings
increasing all employee salaries by seeking Steps and COLAs
ensuring a living wage promise was followed through for our support personnel
protected school programs such as art, music, and library through adequate time to teach and appropriate Master Schedules along with increased funding
increased employee use of sick leave as personal time by ensuring that 3 personal days increased to 5
addressing Bullying in the workplace by implementing legislative policy to address Bullying of employees
reduction in state SOL tests through the support for the creation of the SOL Innovation Committee in Richmond
advocating for our retirement and health benefits as Chair and member of ERFC Board of Trustees
Kimberly spent countless hours in partnership with FEA leaders and FCPS staff. She has engaged with VEA and NEA leaders to keep everyone safe. She hosted a community meeting with Secretary of Education Atif Qarni and has fostered relationships with local and state elected leaders to make our voices heard. Kimberly exhibits a strong influence around matters related to employee rights and benefits.
With her experience and understanding of public school systems, Kimberly has the ability to lead from day one.
